They say never work with children or animals; well unfortunately for me my son is both! I knew this project was going to be ambitious but I completely underestimated the challenge that I had taken on [Euro 2012 – Toddler Vs Ferret: Battle of the Psychics!].
The good news is that we now have predictions for the first four fixtures of the Euro 2012 Championships. The bad news is that I no longer have an ounce of self-respect left after spending twenty challenging minutes carrying out a hands-on demonstration of how to gracefully crawl through a child’s plastic tunnel with the finesse of a show bred Shiatsu. Needless to say that the end result makes for a somewhat tedious viewing, I am just hoping my son’s cute factor is going to make up for the lack of blockbuster action!
Anyway on to the predictions, all in all I think they went well but only time will tell if my son has any psychic abilities at all, based on what he has picked I am going to say no but stranger things have happened.
The First Prediction – Poland v Greece
Psychic Experiment – ‘Show me the Grapes!’
‘Show me the Grapes!’ was the easiest of the four psychic tests as it just involved picking out one plate of grapes with a flag sticking out that displayed the result on it, he had three plates of grapes to choose from. When it comes to grapes my son doesn’t p#ss around he loves them, so he quickly got stuck in and chose GREECE as the winner. As soon as the camera stopped he went back to eat all the grapes and spent the next 5 minutes toddling around doing a stuffed cheek impression of the Godfather!
Toddler Prediction: Winner Greece!
The Second Prediction – Russia v Czech Republic
Psychic Experiment: ‘Ball in a Teacup’
‘Ball in a Teacup’ is exactly what it sounds like, a nice simple challenge that involved my son dropping a red plastic ball into a cup of his choice. Each cup had a flag on it representing a possible result. This was a breeze and without any hesitation he shouted out something that sounded uncannily like ‘Draw’ then dropped the ball in the cup that represented the result of a Draw!
Toddler Prediction: A Draw!
The Third Prediction – Netherlands v Denmark
Psychic Experiment: ‘Tunnel Vision’
‘Tunnel Vision’ was always going to be one of the more challenging tasks and as I mentioned earlier it didn’t disappoint. All you need to know is that he got there in the end but not without a number of dummy demonstrations by my Wife and I, and yes ‘dummy’ demonstrations they were!
Toddler Prediction: Winner Denmark!
The Fourth Prediction: Germany v Portugal
Psychic Experiment: ‘For Duck’s Sake’
‘For Duck’s Sake’ was a fairly simple task and after the exhausting adventures of ‘Tunnel Vision’ I was surprised we even got to this point. The hardest part of this task was sticking the flag to the duck’s back! I am embarrassed to admit that I spent the best part of 15 minutes sticking the flags to the duck’s back for the sake of a 10 second task. Anyway, after a little indecision my boy picked out Germany as the winner of this fixture. The best part was he actually threw the German flag down the toilet straight after picking it!
Toddler Prediction: Winner Germany!
Watch the video below to see how all the tasks went down.
True to my word I have placed an accumulator bet on the four results and the odds come in at an impressive 161/1 with Ladbrokes, so I have dusted down my wallet and put down a pound. Yes after all the sweat and tears I am gambling one pound!
I will update you on how successful my Toddler’s predictions have been and more importantly whether he is more psychic than ‘Fred the Ferret’
If you have any challenge ideas that you would like to see my potentially psychic son carry out then please share as I am running out of ideas rapidly!
